Teriyaki Seasoning Recipes

Ohana-Spices-TeriyakiSteak Fajitas

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Lbs. Flank Steak.. With a sharp knife, lightly score across the grain in both directions on both sides.
  • 2 tbsp. Ohana Legend or Volcanic Legend… (used as a meat rub before cooking)
  • 1 large yellow or red Onion… Sliced in 1/2” wide strips
  • 3 Medium Bell Peppers… 1 Green, 1 Red, 1 yellow… Sliced in 1/2 ” wide strips.
  • 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. Ground Cumin
  • 2 tbsp. Ohana Teriyaki Seasoning
  • 8 ea. Flour or Corn Tortillas… 8 inch.
  • Juice of one lime… Approx. 3 tbsp.

Method:

If using a BBQ grill, adjust the heat to medium high. If using an oven, set the temperature at 375 degrees. Rub the Legend seasonings on the flank steak at least one hour ahead and refrigerate. Score the meat across the grain with a sharp knife. Grill to your preference or roast in an oven forty minutes for medium rare. Remove from the heat, cover lightly with foil and let stand for fifteen minutes before thinly slicing opposite the grain of the steak. Heat a large skillet or wok and add the vegetable oil. Just before the oil begins to smoke, add the peppers, onions and cum-in. Stir frequently until the onions soften then add the Ohana Teriyaki Seasoning. Stir well to incorporate into the vegetables. Add the meat and any juices to the skillet. When the meat has reheated squeeze the lime juice over the top and the Fajitas are ready to serve in the skillet or on a serving platter. Let each person fill there own tortilla and add toppings

Topping choices:
1. Sour cream
2. Cheese
3. Tomatoes… Pico de gallo, Salsa or fresh diced
4. Avocado

Optional:
1. Chicken thighs or breasts… Allow 4/5 ounces per person.
2. Shrimp is a popular alternative.
3. No meat makes an ideal vegetable side dish.

Pork Stir Fry with Snow Peas

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
  • 10 oz. Lean Pork thinly sliced
  • 3 oz. Snow Peas… Optional: Sugar Snap Peas, Cabbage or Baby Bok Choy
  • 2 tbsp. Ohana Teriyaki Seasoning
  • 2 each Green Onions (white and green sliced and separated)
  • 2 tbsp. Corn Starch or Gluten free Arrowroot
  • 1 tbsp. rice wine or white wine
  • Salt to taste if necessary

Method:

In a medium bowl toss the pork with the corn starch or arrowroot and one tablespoon of Ohana Teriakiyaki Seasoning… Can be done one hour ahead. Heat a large skillet to medium -high and add the oil. Then carefully add the pork and allow the meat to cook and begin to brown. (about four to five minutes) Add the snow peas, whites of the green onions, white wine and remaining tablespoon of seasoning. Continue cooking until vegetables are cooked and add the sliced onion greens. Toss a few times to mix in the onions. Serve over rice.

Optional:
1. Add 1/4 teaspoon of sesame oil
2. Add chile sauce or crushed red chiles
3. Thicken a sauce with corn starch or arrowroot and chicken stock.

Ohana Teriyaki Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 2 each 8 oz. Steaks, boneless pork chops, chicken breasts or boned chicken thigh meat.
  • 3 tbsp. Ohana Teriyaki Seasoning
  • 4 tbsp. cold water
  • 2 tbsp. white wine or rice wine (optional)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. vegetable oil

Method:

Place the choice of meat in a high sided dish. In a small bowl combine all other ingredients and stir to blend. Pour the marinade over the meat, cover lightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour, turning over every twenty minutes. Remove the meat, discard the marinade and broil, grill or bake.

Egg Plant Stir Fry

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
  • 4 each Japanese Egg Plant cut one inch crosswise and on an angle.
  • 1 medium Onion thinly sliced.
  • 3 tbsp. Ohana Teriyaki Seasoning.
  • 4 tbsp. cold water
  • 1 tsp. Ohana Legend Spice Blend (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. Sesame Oil (optional)
  • 2 tsp. Sirachi or other hot Chili sauce
  • Green Onion tops finely sliced to garnish

Method:

In a large skillet or wok add the vegetable oil. When the oil is starting to smoke add the egg plant and cook beginning to brown. Reduce the heat to medium high and add the onions and cook until soft. Combine Ohana seasonings in a small bowl, mixing well and add to the stir fry. Cook until the liquid is reduced and the vegetables are cooked. Finish with the addition of the sesame oil and chili sauce tossing to mix well. Garnish with green onions and serve.

Options:

1. Add fresh cut green beans when cooking the egg plant.
2. Add additional garlic.
3. Add one or two cups of leafy greens with the onions.
